A Holistic Coach is one who reflects back to us the questions and thoughts about our self and our surroundings that we may not have considered on our own. A coach in this sense, offers and invites clients into new ways of looking at life, rather telling the client how life should be viewed. Might it be true that changing how we think has more potential for personal growth than changing what we think?

In Holistic Coaching, the experience of each client is very important, and it is within that very experience, that we might need to look. Could the awareness of our unknown parts, reveal more about us than our known parts?

In each session, the client is allowed to be their own teacher, as the coach walks with them in their journey towards greater fulfillment and peace. In each Holistic Coaching Plan offered, clients are invited to participate in the 12-Point Inner Healing Plan & Integration Process (IHP&IP). In this series, we begin to increasing our awareness of why we do what we do, and learn to ask ourselves the deeper questions of life. The 12-Point IHP&IP covers the following topics over a 12 month period: The Roots of Self Sabotage Lessons 1-4, Becoming Friends with Anger, True Forgiveness, Finding Stability & Security, Creating Creativity, Establishing Your Personal Power, Giving & Receiving Love, Finding Your Voice, and Developing Our 6th Sense.

A Holistic approach to coaching also seeks to integrate both hemispheres of the brain by incorporating art, meditation and creative play.

What will we talk about?

In our conversation, we will talk about anything you want or need to talk about. You will be directing the flow of where we go. You are always in control of our time together.

What will our first appointment be like?

Our first appointment will cover your goals for our time together. We will also go through a few basic functional movement assessments. If more detailed assessments are needed, we will discuss that during this first appointment.

What will I need to do after our first appointment?

After our first appointment, you will be given a detailed packet of forms and questionnaires to fill out. One such form is a 10 day food log charting everything you eat and drink in that time.

How early do I need to arrive for my first appointment?

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. There will be some forms you will need to fill out before our appointment. Each appointment is scheduled for exactly 30 minutes, so if you arrive late we will still have to end the session at our scheduled time.

What is the purpose of talking with a Holistic Coach?

A Holistic Coach’s role is to ask the questions that we may not have thought of on our own. The purpose is to discover more about ourselves.

What should I be doing in between our appointments?

Each client receives a personalized home mobility program. This program will be sent in an e-mail with a video link to each movement in the program. Typically it is recommended to do this basic 5-10 minute mobility program each day on your own. Some clients also receive a personalized home exercise program to do in between sessions.

How important is it to complete the food logs and questionnaires?

The questionnaires and food log are of the highest priority in our time together. Those answers will point us to where we must direct our efforts for health. The more complete and candid the answers are, the deeper we can look into where you may be losing health and vitality in the body.

What should I wear and bring with me?

Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water and towel with you. Water and towels are provided, but some clients prefer their own. Most of the appointment will be conducted with shoes off.

What kind of advice will you be giving me?

A Holistic Coach does not give advice in the traditional sense. Advice often comes with attachments. An offering on the other hand is typically offered without the need that others must do something; they are invited to do what they feel is right.

Will my workouts change as the season of my sport changes?

Yes. Athletes do best when their training follows a sport specific periodized workout schedule. Today with some sports, there are less clearly defined on and off seasons. This too will be factored into an athlete’s workout program.

What will be covered in our first nutrition appointment?

We will cover the 6 Basic Factors for Health: Breathing, Food, Water, Sleep, Movement, and Thoughts. We will also cover the functioning of the seven endocrine glands along with other organs and hormones. A Holistic Nutritionist does not seek to diagnose disease or dysfunction but to focus on the basic principles that restore health and vitality in all humans.

What will the first appointment be like?

Our first appointment will cover your goals for our time together. We will also go through a few basic movement and range of motion assessments. If more detailed assessments are needed, we will discuss that during this first appointment.

What should I do after our appointment?

I personally have found healing in consistency. That consistency may come in the form of learning more through reading, writing, drawing, and/or setting up a monthly time to converse with a Holistic Coach.

How will we chart my progress as an athlete?

All progress can be measured by either quantity or quality of movement. It is important to chart both. The best source of feedback will always be - how you are performing in your sport. There are also many tools to measure progress in the gym, including heart rate, volume of work, recovery speed and most importantly of all, quality and skill of movement.

Will I need to buy supplements and do you sell them?

The primary focus of a Holistic Nutritionist is to get a client back to the natural state of health using the 6 basic factors. Supplements are only as good as your food source, water quantity, and sleep quality. We will focus on those first. Any supplements that you may need after that, can be purchased from a health food store.

When should I arrive?

Arriving 15 minutes before class will provide adequate time to change into your workout clothing.
